Dr. Thirugnanam graduated from Madras University and pursued his Post Graduate in General Surgery from Kilpauk Medical College, Madras University. He then went on to complete another Post Graduate study in Plastic Surgery from Madras Medical College, Madras University.

He also had undergone training in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in UK under BAPS fellowship. He specializes in Congenital Anomalies and Cosmetic Surgery including Orthognathic Surgery.
